As
someone once said, "No Limit Texas Hold'em takes a minute to learn but a lifetime to master". This is
such a true statement. It does only take a minute to learn the rules, and not much more than that to learn what is a
very important part of the game - the Math! Some of the best Texas Hold'em players rely very heavily on the
Mathematics of the game.
By knowing the math, you can make better decisions on when to call, and when
to lay the hand down. NEVER play hold'em without using the mathematic principles that allow you to make the right
decisions of when to call and when to muck.
There are plenty of great sites out there with probability tables,
but think of the 4/2 rule. On the turn multipy your outs by 4, and on the river by 2. This is the percentage
you have to hit your cards. Example, your on an open ended straight draw. On the turn you have have a 32% chance
of getting your card (8 x's 4) and a 16% chance on the river (8 x's 2). Its not exact but close enough.
